ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The man mortally injured after troopers said he tried to hitch a ride on the back of a milk truck died on Thursday, according to the hospital.

Tabarri Goins was on life support there since Sunday morning. Goins, 24, was found around 3 a.m. on Interstate 490 near the Brown Street exit.

Officials say they were initially unsure if they were dealing with foul play, but further investigation led them to believe there was no one else involved, nor did Goins get hit by a car.

Troopers say the driver of the milk truck had no idea someone was on the back of his vehicle.

It's believed Goins was on his way to visit his girlfriend at the time. They say he left the home of a relative on foot and climbed onto the milk truck just before it turned onto 490.
