WEBSTER, N.Y. -- A Rochester hero was remembered for his accomplishments on the 50-year anniversary of his death.

Friends and family of Webster native Donald Walter Holleder held a ceremony to honor the local sports star.

Holleder excelled as a football player for the Aquinas Institute and then went on to play at West Point Academy.

After graduation, Holleder served in the military. He died fighting in the Vietnam War in 1967.

Holleder's legacy lives on in Rochester: There are multiple facilities named in his honor, including the athletic center at West Point and "Holleder Stadium," where the original Rochester Lancers and Aquinas football teams played their home games.
