ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Two intercepted phone calls placed by a prison inmate stopped a plot to carry out a hit on a Rochester City School District student.

The calls lead authorities to a gun hidden under a dumpster outside School No. 7 earlier this month.

The Bureau of Prisons says the weapon was placed there to carry out a hit on a student.

The BOP says routine monitoring of inmate phone conversations uncovered the plot.

The BOP contacted Rochester police and within two hours of the initial phone call, the weapon was recovered.

No one was injured and no arrests have been made.

The Rochester Police Department continues to investigate.
