ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Honor Flight Rochester is celebrating a milestone. The volunteer group just completed its 50th mission.

Friends, family and supporters gave a warm welcome to 40 veterans as they returned home from a weekend trip to Washington D.C. Honor Flight flies veterans from various wars for free to the nation's capital to visit memorials.

Since it started in 2008, Honor Flight Rochester has brought more than 2,000 veterans on the trip. Bob Lyeth is a Korean War Veteran and says it'd been years since he had been to the nation's capital. He says it's a trip he won't soon forget.

"Well it's just an unbelievable experience. It's awesome! As the kids would say, it's awesome," said Lyeth.

The next honor flight mission is in two weeks.
