MACEDON, N.Y. -- A Wayne County company is now offering the chance to buy clean energy for RG&E customers who can't otherwise get access to solar power.

Sustainable Energy Developments Inc. showed off what it said is the first community solar array in the area in Macedon.

The electricity would still be delivered by RG&E and bills would remain about the same according to the company.

"And we do so in a way that allows access to solar power to the people who previously were in a place where it wasn't available to them," SED CEO Kevin Schulte said. "Whether you were in an apartment or a condo or you had a big maple tree in your front yard and didn't have enough sun to make this a reality for you. Today we change that."

There would also be an additional solar energy credit.

Sustainable Energy Developments says there are plans to build a second array before the end of the year.
