WAYNE COUNTY, N.Y. -- Improving the lives of children in need, a non-profit organization out of Wayne County held one of its largest annual fundraisers Saturday evening.

The Green Angels strive to improve the safety, health and comfort of children, specifically those in need throughout Wayne County by providing donated life essential items.

It collects gently used items all year round for families.

Saturday night, the Green Angels announced a new project aimed at purchasing a building for the organization.

"Right now our organization is run out of donated storage units and we're serving approximately 1,000 to 1,500 children per year, and we provide them with blankets and bedding and furniture and we just don't have enough storage locations for those items,"  Green Angels President Marya Vande-Doyle said.

Proceeds from Saturday's fundraiser will go towards purchasing that new building within the next year and a half.

The goal is to raise about $20,000.
