ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Dozens of kids from the area are finding out what exactly it takes to become a rock star this week at a special summer camp in Rochester, fittingly called Camp ROC Star.

Campers practice, form bands, and perform songs at the camp, founded by Elvio Fernandes, a longtime member of the local music scene who's now a member of the Grammy-nominated band Daughtry.

"I mean, if they leave with this much more confidence, that they can take for the rest of their lives, whether it's music or not, then I've done my job. That's how I feel," said

The seventh annual Camp ROC Star wraps up Friday, with a full rock concert, at Rochester's Lyric Theater on East Avenue.
