BATAVIA, N.Y. -- It was lights out at Genesee Community College at noon on Friday, as the college asked people to turn the lights off in offices that have enough daylight.
"Daylight Hour" was organized by the Green Light New York group. It's an effort to raise awareness about energy savings and the impact State University of New York campuses have on unsustainable practices.
SUNY currently averages $640,000 per day in utility costs.
