ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- It's an Election Day tradition for many in the area; to pay a visit to the grave site of Susan B. Anthony.

Residents and local leaders stopped by Mount Hope Cemetery to honor her work in the womens suffrage movement.

This year is special as it also marks the 100th anniversary of women's suffrage in New York State..

Residents from all generations also came out to pay their respects to the suffragette.

"When people celebrate the bicentennial 100 years from now, what will they say about us?" Said Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul. "How will we have measured up to the bold women and enlightened men who came before us to fight for this right, because winning the right to vote did not mean equality. Women today are not equal as men."

Hochul also announced plans to for a monument in  Central Park in New York City that pays tribute to women's suffrage.

She says Susan B. Anthony will be showcased in this monument in the year 2020, marking 100 years from when the rest of the country caught up to new york state in giving women the right to vote.
