Syracuse scored early in the second period and pulled away in the third to win game one of their best of five AHL North Division Semifinal series, 6-2, in Syracuse Friday night.
Kevin Porter and Kyle Criscuolo scored first period goals as Rochester drew even with the Crunch. Dominik Mason's goal 1:44 into the second gave Syracuse a lead it would not relinquish.
The Amerks will attempt to even the series tonight in Syracuse before returning home on Wednesday for Game 3.
