It seems that Irondequoit's Gerald Drumgoole has reached a fork in the road.

Last fall, Drumgoole led the Eagles, earning him numerous football scholarship offers.

But now, it seems that Drumgoole is more at home on the hardwood than the gridiron.

After a break-out performance at Peach Jam with the City Rocks team and playing alongside current La Lumiere big man Isaiah Stewart, his focus has changed.

“He gets the ball a majority of the time, and being a role player on that team and being surrounded by a good person like him makes you want to be that much better,” Drumgoole said.

“He was able to perform on a huge stage which was Peach Jam, and by him being able to perform on that stage, in front of all the coaches that are there, it truly put him in a spot where he was able to get some calls from some pretty big schools," said City Rocks assistant coach John McCauley.

Drumgoole is now fielding major basketball offers nearly every week, adding Georgia and Maryland to the list this past weekend.

"Playing with City Rocks is a great opportunity for a young kid like me to try and pursue his dreams and show his talent around the country for college coaches,” he said.

The sky is the limit for him, either here or at prep school.

“It's been a huge summer for me,” Drumgoole said. “I came down with a good amount of coaches looking at me this summer so, it should be a huge upcoming season for me next year."
