A Rochester man is accused of stabbing one person then attacking a police officer with a knife, which was stopped by her bulletproof vest.

Leon Roach, 47 is charged with attempted aggravated murder for his alleged action toward the officer and assault, and police state that more charges are possible.

According to police, officers responding to Louise Street just before 8 p.m. Thursday found one person stabbed and another injured from jumping out a window. Two people were spotted leaning out a window, saying someone with a knife was trying to break in and they were trapped.

After bursting into the house in a rescue attempt, police said Officer Amber Grosch opened a door and was confronted by Roach, who allegedly lunged toward her. The protective vest stopped the blade, but Grosch did suffer an injury to her left hand. 

Roach was then taken into custody.

Grosch, 26, is approaching her one-year mark with the department, and was released after getting treatment at the hospital.
