Rochester police have identified the man shot on Glenwood Avenue Thursday.

Dominique Wilson, 27, died at an area hospital. He is the 20th homicide in the city this year and the fourth in seven days, police said.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.

Glenwood Avenue was closed between Dewey and Oriole Street Friday morning as police investigated.

The recent stretch of violence is making it a busy first month for interim Rochester Police Chief Mark Simmons.

Pathways to Peace, an anti-violence group in the City of Rochester is pleading with the community to stop the violence. Activists are asking people in crisis to call their 24 hour hotline at 585-303-7489.

“We're sending out a citywide pledge to stop the violence in our community. We're sick and tired of all of the violence and the murders in our city and we need to stand up as an agency as a community to come forward and stop the violence," said Michael Brooks Sr. of Pathways to Peace.
