BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The driver of a vehicle heading the wrong way on the Kensington Expressway in Buffalo died in an overnight crash, according to police.

The driver was described by police as a 28-year-old female from Oakfield. The victim's name was not immediately released.

Police said her vehicle hit another near the Suffolk Street exit.

Road crews working nearby quickly responded, but police said two workers were hit by a third vehicle.

The driver of the initial vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The two workers and the driver of the second vehicle were taken to the hospital.

The eastbound lanes of Route 33 were closed for a few hours, for cleanup and crash investigation.
