ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Two men are under arrest, and two police officers are injured, after a vehicle stop in Rochester overnight.

Police say they tried to stop a vehicle around 12:30 a.m. Friday that matched the description from a shots fired call on Thurston Road.

They say the driver sped away, and eventually crashed after hitting a curb, then a telephone pole and a tree on Brown and Allen Streets.

Police say 22-year-old Rahshawn Alexander of Rochester then charged at officers, while reaching into his waistband where he had a handgun.

Police were eventually able to arrest him, however two officers do have minor injuries.

Alexander faces several charges including DWI, criminal possession of a weapon, and stolen property as well as resisting arrest.

His passenger, 20-year-old Donta Hawkins of Rochester, is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.
