A Romanian national is likely going to federal prison for his role in a scam targeting ATMs in Western New York.

A judge sentenced 21-year-old Giovani Hornea to a little more than three years after he was convicted of conspiracy to commit bank fraud.

Federal prosecutors say Hornea along with two others used skimming devices and cameras to record people's pin numbers at Bank of America ATMs in Buffalo, Rochester and Pennsylvania.

This happened during a month-long period in the fall of 2015.

Beside the prison time, Hornea was ordered to pay back more than $150,000 in restitution.
