GATES, N.Y. — Gates police announced the arrests of two men in connection to two separate road rage incidents Sunday. In both cases, police say weapons were involved. 

Jeffrey Peters of Gates facing multiple charges after police say he got out of his car at the Home Depot on Buffalo Road, yelled racial slurs to an African American driver and then pointed a loaded 9-millimeter pistol at the victim.

Multiple witnesses called 911. Peters was arrested inside the store. He's charged with aggravated harassment, which is a hate crime, menacing, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal use of a weapon. He's being held on $22,000 cash bail.

Several hours later, Gates police say 19-year-old Matthew Schiffer was involved in a road rage incident at the Westview Commons Apartments.

Police say the Buffalo man got out of his car and threatened another driver with a knife. He's charged with menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.

Both men will appear in court at a later date.
