HENRIETTA, N.Y. -- A man is facing charges accused of impersonating a police officer and robbing a hotel patron.

Police responded to an issue at the Days inn on West Henrietta Road around 5 p.m. Monday.

When they knocked on the door to the hotel room, they say 23-year-old Daniel Nwosu of Rochester smashed out a window and ran from the room with a gun in hand.

When deputies chased after him they say Nwosu pointed the gun at the officer, dropped it and continued to run. 

Deputies chased him into a wooded area until he was caught and placed him under arrest.

The woman in the hotel room told police Nwosu forced his way into her room identifying himself as a police officer and stole cash from her.

Deputies recovered the gun which they found to be a BB gun.

Nwosu is charged with robbery, burglary, criminal impersonation of a police officer, menacing and resisting arrest.

Deputies say he admitted to his actions while being interviewed by investigators.
