OGDEN, N.Y. -- One week ago, Rae Maenza says her husband David walked out of their house in Ogden and disappeared. He left everything, including his car, behind.

"He left everything here, so I don't have a clue. His wallet, his phone," said Rae, who said David had not acted himself lately. "If anyone has information call 911, if you see anything, know anything, call somebody."

Police have searched for David, along Buffalo and Whittier roads and the dense woods behind his house. Dogs, ATVs and helicopters were searching last week, and search teams and drones will continue in the coming days.

Ogden Police Chief Chris Mears acknowledges that law enforcement can only go so far.

"Just the fact that they are an adult and they're free to go where they want to go and do what they want to do. That always makes it more difficult," Mears said. "If a person just wants to not be contacted  and go off on their own, that's within their right,  As a resident of the Town of Ogden though, we're going to do everything we can do to check on his welfare and make sure he's okay."

Mears says he doesn't want any inexperienced volunteers in these woods. The terrain is just too dangerous, with thick brush and unexpected drop-offs into deep ponds.
