ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- A Rochester police car was hit by a robbery suspect trying to get away on a bike late Tuesday night.

A woman notified police officers that she was robbed at 9:15 p.m. on Forbes Street. Police say her purse and cell phone were stolen.

A short time later, officers spotted two men who matched the descriptions of the suspects on Arnett Boulevard and Rugby Avenue.

They say one attempted to run away while the other tried to escape on his bicycle. The man on the bike crashed into a police car, cracking the windshield.

The suspect was not hurt.

Both of them are in police custody as of Wednesday morning.
