After 16 weeks of preparing, designing and building, 400 students competed in this year's FIRST Lego Challenge Regional Championship.

Kids ages nine to 14 built Lego Mindstorm robots designed around one topic, space.

More than 40 teams competed against each other at the University of Rochester's Goergen Athletic Center.

While there were many different robots, one thing was consistent: teamwork.

"You can't build all of that in a couple of weeks without having team members to help you," said Brayden Stedman, Churchville Elementary. "And you have to solve problems and you have to put all of your minds together."

Winners from the Regional Championship have a chance to go to Houston and Detroit for the national championships in April.
