The state Democratic Committee, largely under the control of Governor Cuomo, wants the IDC and mainline Democrats to unite. However, committee leaders are not necessarily in a rush to see that happen, floating a plan that would not come to fruition until May. So, many are asking - particularly members of the party's left wing - whether Cuomo is doing this to better position himself for a 2020 presidential run.
