ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The push continues to sell Amazon on Rochester as the home for a second headquarters.

Amazon plans to spend $5 billion to build the facility somewhere in the United States.

Greater Rochester Enterprise markets the Rochester area to attract businesses. CEO Matt Hurlbutt tells us they are providing Amazon with information about the area. He says more than 50 cities are under consideration, but he believes Rochester has a legitimate chance.

"When you look at the information technology talent, out expertise in optics, photonics, and imaging, the growth we've had with other high tech companies in our region, that bodes very well for us," said Hurlbutt. "We also have some outstanding colleges and universities that can supply that talent well into the future."

Amazon says the new facility would create up to 50-thousand jobs to staff the building, but those wouldn't be the only jobs from the project.

"There will definitely be building renovation opportunities, there would certainly be some design aspects to that, info structure, construction opportunities as well as the supply of some of the asset they'll need to in fact staff and operate a headquarters here in the region," Hurlbutt said.

GRE says its proposal is due October 19th.
