BUFFALO, N.Y. — A group of Buffalonians are hoping to get the bust of Martin Luther King Jr. at MLK Park replaced, because they don't think it looks like him.

During an event Monday they said they want the current bust of the civil rights leader melted down and replaced with a full body statue. They'd like the replacement to be ready for next year's celebration.

According to city records the bust was sculpted by famed Boston artist John Wilson and casted by the Paul King Foundry.

It was revealed here in the park in October of 1983

"I thought it was horrible. I thought it was very horrible. I thought it was a disservice to all the hard work that Dr. Martin Luther King's dream stood for,” said Veronica Bell.

They've also started a change.org petition on the matter and plan to keep it open until the fall.
