Wade Sanders will spend the next 1 2/3 to five years in prison driving away after hitting Arthur Redrick with his vehicle and driving away.

Sanders pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an incident resulting in death in October. He was sentenced this morning in Erie County Court.

Police say Sanders, 54, of Buffalo hit 60-year-old Arthur Redrick just before 6:40 a.m. on May 26 as Redrick was crossing Bailey Avenue at Lang Avenue.

When arrested and charged with the death three months later, Sanders later told police he didn’t come forward sooner because he was afraid of the repercussions.

Redrick’s family helped find Sanders by conducting their own investigation into the incident, first acquiring a videotape of the vehicle involved in the accident then hitting the street looking for leads. That information lead them to Dartmouth Street between Comstock and Parkridge on Saturday, where they spotted Sanders. He was arrested a short time later.
