HAMLIN, N.Y. —The 22-year-old man who was seriously injured in a one-car crash in the town of Hamlin Thursday night is facing several charges, including driving while intoxicated.

Monroe County Sheriff deputies say Nicholas Vanhoy of Brockport was driving on Brick Schoolhouse Road in Hamlin around 8:30 p.m. when he apparently ran a stop sign, entered the shoulder of the road and struck a utility pole.

Deputies say Vanhoy's vehicle then flipped two or three times and he was ejected from the car.

First responders found Vanhoy in a field next to the road and he was transported to Strong memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

Vanhoy was charged with DWI, failure to maintain lane, open container and no seat belt.
