Lancaster takes down Williamsville North 21-20 to head to their third consecutive Class AA Final.

The Legends took a 14-6 lead into the half. The Spartans grabbed all of the momentum out of the locker room, with Joe Nusall hitting Dylan Kelly for a 72-yard touchdown 49 seconds into the second half to pull within two.

Will North would ride that momentum to their first lead of the night later in the quarter. Nusall hit Kelly again for a 58-yard score. Dylan Mann ran in for a two-point conversion to give the Spartans a 20-14 advantage.

On their next drive, Lancaster regained the lead. The Legends’ wildcat quarterback, Gianluca Fulciniti, scampered into the end zone for a three-yard touchdown, his second of the night, to give Lancaster a 21-20 edge.

After a pair of scoreless drives, Will North took possession with less than four minutes to go for one final opportunity. Forced to pass on a fourth and five, Nusall was picked off by Ethan Jurkowsky to ice the game for Lancaster.

For Will North (7-2), the season ends in disappointment at the hands of the Legends for the second consecutive season. Lancaster downed the Spartans last year in the Class AA championship game.

On the other side, Lancaster (8-1) moves on to New Era Field looking for their third straight title and a little revenge. Their opponents in the championship game are the Bennett Tigers, who reached the final by defeating Orchard Park 51-27. The Tigers ended Lancaster’s long Section VI winning streak earlier this season, beating the Legends in September, 42-35.
