Each week during Friday Night Matchup, Spectrum News will celebrate some of the top student-athletes that Western New York has to offer. Grand Island High School’s Easton Speer represents everything a student-athlete should strive to be.

Speer is a four-sport senior, with varsity letters in football, baseball, wrestling and basketball.

His accomplishments in the classroom easily match his athletic capability. Speer has a 92.06 overall average and has taken a number of honors and AP classes. He also scored a 1280 on the SAT.

While Easton has not determined where he’d like to go to college, he hopes to have a career that combines his passion for sports with his interest in mathematics.

Speer will receive a $1,000 scholarship, going to the college of his choice.
