ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Thurman Thomas' No. 34 is getting retired by the Buffalo Bills, only the third player in franchise history to receive the honor.

The other two numbers belong to teammates, Jim Kelly's No. 12 and Bruce Smith's No. 78.

The official retirement ceremony is set for October 29th, a Monday night game where the Bills host the New England Patriots.

"I think what set this one apart, this one is where I left my mark. This is where I scored touchdowns," said Thomas, a Pro Football Hall-of-Famer, when asked about the ceremony set for New Era Field.

"It makes it a little more special, and I live here. I'm still involved with the community, the Buffalo Bills, I think all of that really makes it special."
