BUFFALO, N.Y. -- After five losses in six exhibition games, the Sabres say the vibe is different as the games now matter, beginning this week versus Montreal.

"Once training camp was over, we shift our focus to game one," said Jason Pominville, forward. "I felt the intensity rise, guys are focused and attention to detail rised as well. It's what usually happens, it's the same way a few days before the playoffs. The focus of everyone shifts up a bit, you can definitely see that now. Guys are excited and ready to go."

"I think they come with a great enthusiasm. They're willing and eager to work. When you implement new systems, I understand it doesn't happen overnight, but they're willing to do the work. That's what we have to start round one. Realizing that, we can work from there," said new Head Coach Phil Housley.
