BUFFALO, N.Y. — Millions across the nation are marched in solidarity with students in Washington D.C. Sunday to protest school gun violence, including here in Buffalo.

March for Our Lives Buffalo gave students in Western New York a platform to have their voices heard.

Many students told Spectrum News they want to feel safer and are urging lawmakers to pass stricter gun laws.

They especially want to see a ban on assault rifles and erase loopholes in background checks for gun purchases.

The national march was organized by students of the Parkland, Florida shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school.

Two survivors of that shooting, Ryan Walsh and Justin Colton, attended the march in Buffalo.

Colton described to Spectrum News what that day was like when a gunman walked into his school.

"It was crazy,” said Colton. “Not good. We should never have to go through that. Everyone came out to show their support and show they want change as a whole as a nation"

Around 3,000 people attended the march in Niagara Square.
