BUFFALO, N.Y. — The city of good neighbors struck again Thursday night, this time for an east side church recently scammed out of thousands.

Dozens packed Good Shepherd Temple Church for a fundraiser to help get its roof and sanctuary repaired.

Those renovations were initially funded with grants written by scam artist Christina Sanford Gordon. They had to be halted once it was discovered that the repair money didn't exist.

Gordon was brought up on charges by the state attorney general and has since pleaded guilty.

"I will see to it that she gets packages, cards. We're praying for her. Because she was just on a treadmill and when you're on a treadmill, you're moving too fast, you're headed for a crash,” said Good Shepherd Temple Church Co-Pastor, Rev. Janice Fisher.

Gordon is facing 7 to 15 years in prison.

As of Thursday, an anonymous donor has given enough to get the church's roof fixed.
