LAS VEGAS — Sir Elton John got hit with something other than adoration and praise at a show Wednesday evening.

The singer was performing his hit song “Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting” at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas when a Mardi Gras beads necklace came flying at his mouth, causing him to stop singing and playing piano, video shows.

Elton had reportedly just invited the front row of fans to join him on stage for the song and as they all sang along, the beads struck him in the mouth. He stopped to repeatedly check his teeth for several seconds while the band continued to play.

John, 70, paused, stunned for a good 30 seconds, before continuing to play.

A fan posted video singing along with Elton when the beads came flying at his face.

“A very stupid man strikes Elton with a necklace, he could throw away anything,” the fan wrote, along with video of the encounter.

On Jan. 24, Elton announced that he would be retiring after his next tour.
