The Sam’s Club near Jamestown in West Ellicott is on the company's list of stores scheduled to close this month.

Sam's Club tweeted that after a thorough review of its existing portfolio, the company has decided to close a number of stores to "better align out locations with our strategy."

Chautauqua County Executive George Borrello believes whatever review the company did didn't capture the success of this location.

“I’m going to assume that someone somewhere drew a line and said ‘for every store here and below, we’re closing.’ And I don’t think that’s a fair assessment of the actual situation here in Jamestown, because, as I said, every indication is this is a very busy location. So that gives me hope that we’ll be able to find someone else to replace them. Hopefully as soon as possible,” said Borrello.

Sixty-two other Sam’s Club locations were announced as closing Thursday, leaving thousands without jobs. The same day, parent company Walmart announced raises and bonuses for their workers.
