When Orchard Park football takes the field, they'll have a new coach for the first time since the early '90s.

Gene Tundo stepped down after 24 seasons and two state titles, handing the reins over to Craig Dana.

He's coached at Orchard Park for the last 17 years, and served as defensive coordinator for the last seven.

”It’s great knowing him because he’s close with us already. We bonded with him the past few years,” said Pierson Savarino. “He’s a great guy. You know, he’s doing everything he can for us so we’re going to go out there and play for him.”

”You're not gonna fill his shoes,” Dana said of Tundo. “They're shoes you bronze and put on the shelf somewhere. It's following Gene and the expectations is where the pressure comes from. Sectional final is where everyone's goal is, and going to the Dome.”

Quakers start the season at McKinley next Friday.
