BLASDELL, N.Y. — Members of a Blasdell family say they're lucky to be alive after a fire ripped through their home.

The back of the home on Salem Drive was engulfed in flames when firefighters got there around 6 p.m. Sunday.

The owner of the home says despite losing everything, he's grateful his family is safe.

"All six of my children got out and me and the wife got out two animals, our two dogs, so that was a blessing in itself," said homeowner Leroy Kelley said. "All the other stuff doesn't matter. We can replace all, that it'll just take time."

Firefighters are still trying to figure out what caused the fire.
