ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- The once mighty defense of the Buffalo Bills have crashed and burned the last couple of weeks, now ranked 24th in the league

The team had two horrible weeks in a row, highlighted by Sunday when the Saints ran for 298 yards. The unit is also having issues putting pressure on the quarterback. Defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier says those two problems go hand-in-hand

"When you’re not defending the run as well, you could find yourself in some very predictable situations that you’re not able to get the pressure that you would like, because you’re trying to defend the run," Frazier said. "That’s part of it. We have to get people into some more third and longs, some second and longs, and try to get some pressure in that way. But, [it] still comes back to our run defense."

The offensive side hasn't been a silver lining of late either, despite some new additions.

This time last week Kelvin Benjamin was fresh to the Bills roster and possibilities seemed endless — and then Sunday came.

Benjamin did lead the team in receiving, but it was just three catches for 42 yards. He had one catch and was targeted three time on the opening drive while Tyrod Taylor was under center but that was it. His other catches came when Nathan Peterman was in during garbage time. Bills offensive Coordinator Rick Dennison on why

"Coverage dictated that," said Bills offensive coordinator Rick Dennison. "They started out, had him one-on-one, we took our chances, didn’t make the plays, and then instead of changing the two safety coverages, try to protect the guy on him, I guess. We tried to work some high level, high-low levels with him, and somebody underneath him and they kept dropping underneath. It’s up to me to get him in the right spot to get him the targets and get him the catches."

Benjamin was targeted a total of six times in his Bills debut.
