Six corrections officers were hurt in a fight with inmates at Green Haven Correctional Facility Tuesday in Stormville.
The Corrections' Officer's Union says a female officer was taking three inmates to receive medication when one of them became disruptive.
The situation escalated, and the union says one of the inmates, Gerald Howard, hit the officer in the face.
More officers were called in, and the inmates were eventually subdued.
The union says one of the inmates was found to have a makeshift weapon.
Two inmates were placed in a special housing unit, while third was taken to an outside hospital.
Two officers also had to be taken to the hospital.
