Michael Howard joined Spectrum News in July of 2013 as a videojournalist working out of the Poughkeepsie bureau, moving to the Albany newsroom in 2015.
His passion for news started behind the camera when a tornado struck his hometown his senior year of high school and he saw the effect it had on his community.
Born and raised in Rocky Hill, Connecticut, he graduated from Rocky Hill High School where he was a captain of his tennis team and received the coaches award his senior year. He then went on to earn a B.S. in electronic journalism arts and a minor in television production at Lyndon State College.
While at Lyndon, Michael played four years of tennis as well as produced, anchored and reported for the Emmy Award-winning campus station News 7. Covering breaking news and updating viewers on many platforms was what he was known for. During the summer of his junior year, he was an intern at WFSB-TV in Hartford, Connecticut.
When he’s not covering the news in the Capital Region, you can find him working out, playing or watching tennis.
