The race for the 19th Congressional District Democratic primary has gone to Antonio Delgado.

The Rhinebeck resident took 22 percent of the vote, topping a crowded seven-candidate field. He will face off against Republican incumbent John Faso in the general election in November.

Delgado's top issues are universal health care, revising the tax code and fighting climate change.

The primary featured six other candidates: teacher Jeff Beals, farmer Erin Collier, attorney David Clegg, small business owner Brian Flynn, former Gov. Andrew Cuomo aide Gareth Rhodes and Iraq war veteran Pat Ryan.

The 19th Congressional District includes all of Columbia, Delaware, Greene, Otsego, Schoharie, Sullivan and Ulster counties, and parts of Broome, Dutchess, Montgomery and Rensselaer counties.
