A new trolley looks to make commuting around Albany easier.

The CDTA has partnered with a number of organizations to offer the free Capital City Trolley service. It will run year round Thursday through Saturday, from 5 p.m. until 12:30 a.m.

"This is about keeping people safe. It’s about making sure that we’re connecting people to the places they want to go and the things they want to see and that it’s a convenient experience," said Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan.

The CDTA and partners helping to cover the cost of the service believe it is vital for businesses and those visiting Albany to have a way to move around regardless of weather.

"The trolley is something that we actually piloted last summer," said Georgette Steffens, the executive director of Downtown Albany BID. "We have taken feedback that we have from our businesses, from our riders. We enhanced the trolley loop. We added some additional stops."

The Capital City Trolley has 11 stops on its route and links people to locations such as Corning Riverfront Park, Lark Street, the Times Union Center and the State Capitol. You can track the trolley's location using Transfinder's CityFinder app.
