Dan Farrell is opening his heart — and his business — to raise money for an employee who lost her sister in the Schoharie crash.

Rachael Cavosie was among the 20 victims who died in the limousine crash.

Saturday’s fundraiser at the Arsenal City Tavern in Watervliet gave people an opportunity to remember Rachael as a devoted athlete, vibrant spirit, and loyal friend.

"We thought we should do something for Maeghan — Maeghan is Rachael Cavosie’s sister,” said Farrell.

Friends of Maeghan and Rachael said, "She was just great to be around, always a pleasure, never a dull moment with her,” and, "She was the type of gal that would make a lot of friends."

They sold t-shirts, tickets, and drinks. Friends said they wanted to do all the heavy lifting to help ease the family's burden.

Farrell said they raised $1,000 in just one day, and they’re aiming to raise $10,000 by the end of the week.

"People are donating from all over the country,” he said. “If you see the amount of money that’s been raised for this, it’s incredible.”

He says he'll continue to stir up local support for the Cavosie family.
