GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. -- Family and friends are beginning to say their final goodbyes to the 20 people killed in Saturday's limo crash in Schoharie.

Calling hours were held Thursday for Savannah Bursese in Gloversville at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home. This is the first of several wakes and funerals taking place over the next few days.

Hundreds came out to pay their respects to Bursese. The 24-year-old was the youngest of the 20 victims. Her boyfriend Matthew Coons was also killed in that crash.

In her obituary, Bursese is described as a passionate and determined young woman. She was a volleyball captain at Hartwick College where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in 2015.

Her family says she loved animals, especially dogs. Her stepbrother Martin Hladik says their hearts are breaking, not only for their personal loss, but also for the loss of all the families involved in this tragedy.

He also says the family wants to thank the first responders and the community for their support.

"She was well loved by everyone," Hladik said. "She was looking forward to moving on to the next chapter in her life studying law. Unfortunately her time was cut much too short."

Bursese leaves behind her parents and several siblings. A private funeral will take place on Friday.
