Poughkeepsie colleges have messages out to their students after some controversial flyers were put up.

Flyers with an anti-Semitic message were put around Vassar, Marist, and Dutchess Community colleges.

The message says, "Every time some anti-white, anti-American, anti-freedom event takes place you look at it, and it's Jews behind it," referring to the sexual assault allegations against now-Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

Poughkeepsie Town Police investigated, but say the person they believe responsible does not face any criminal charges, because the flyer does not constitute a hate crime.

Students who spoke to Spectrum News say the message is not appropriate.

"It's ridiculous anybody would put these up. But especially at Vassar where everyone is so open and welcoming, I was really surprised to see those," said Vassar College freshman Rose Parker.

Each of the schools say the flyers have been removed and officials condemn the message. The person accused of putting up the flyers has been banned from their campuses.
