A SUNY Oswego faculty member was one pedestrians killed in the deadly limo crash in Schoharie, according to a New York State Police press release issues Tuesday afternoon.

Brian Hough was an assistant professor of geology.

James Schnurr, 70 of Kerhonkson, N.Y., Hough's father-in-law was the other pedestrian killed in the crash, police say.

The school says Hough will be remembered as a “valued colleague and dedicated teacher.” Hough began working at SUNY Oswego in 2016 as a visiting professor.

Hough earned his PhD from the University of Rochester, a master's degree from Ohio State University and his bachelor's degree from Old Dominion University in Virginia. He specialized in the interactions of tectonics and climate as well as paleoelevation.

“In a short time, Brian became a major part of our campus family,” said Deborah Stanley, the school’s president. “He was a dedicated faculty member who inspired his students to learn and understand at a deep level, and whose contributions were often sought by his colleagues. He will be missed and remembered fondly by all, always.”
