A woman is in custody in connection to multiple stabbings at an unlicensed day care in Queens.

Police say a 52-year-old daycare worker stabbed three newborn babies and two adults early this morning on 161st Street in Flushing.

The attack happened around 4 a.m. Friday morning.

"Three of the injured were infants ranging from the age of three days to one month old. One adult female suffered multiple stab wounds to the torso and one adult male suffered an injury to the leg," Assistant Chief Juanita Holmes said.

The woman stabbed worked at the daycare, and the man stabbed is the father of one of the infants.

The woman accused was found with slash wounds on her wrists.

Police sources say a bloody kitchen knife and meat cleaver were recovered from the scene.

"I'm so sad for the family this happened to. Those poor children, Oh my goodness. My heart is broken. What can I say? I'm devastated," a Queens resident said.

All of the victims were taken to local hospitals in critical condition but are expected to survive.
