Monticello Central schools all were closed Friday after, according to the district, someone threatened violence in a social media post.

In a statement, the district says it reached out to police and security to investigate a threat aimed at its elementary, middle and high schools. Also requested by the district were subpoenas to track IP addresses and electronic communication.

The district did not go into specifics on what the threat entailed, but stressed Friday's closure was "out of an abundance of caution."

They want anyone with information on the threat to reach out to village or county law enforcement. The district also wants to remind community members they can report threats and bullying online here.
