NEWBURGH, N.Y. -- An abandoned building has collapsed in Newburgh.

No one was hurt as part of the second floor caved in Monday morning at 302 Grand Street.

The assistant fire chief for Newburgh says the city has taken the owner to court, to get him to bring the building into compliance with safety codes -- but he hasn't been showing up.

The assistant chief says now the case is headed for a higher level in the local court system.
