GOSHEN, N.Y. — Legoland New York has revealed the look for their Goshen site.

A miniature Lego model of the theme park was unveiled Thursday. The model shows eight themed sections, designed for children aged 2 to 12 and their families.

Leogland officials also ran helicopter tours of the construction site that spans 500 acres.

There is opposition to the construction from a local group who says they have an issue with Legoland's location and impact on the area.

Legoland officials say the site is the right one for the park, and there's growing excitement ahead of opening day.

"This is exactly the kind of family destination that this area has needed. I've lived in this area for almost 20 years, it's the kind of place I would have loved to have taken my kids when they were little," said Matt Besterman, Legoland New York public relations manager.

"Legoland has a right to go where the zoning is correct, where the roadways are correct, where they would be welcome, where they can get plenty of attendees, where they can make money. I'm not sure that — I'm actually convinced that this is just not the site for it," said Chris Miele, Concerned Citizens For The Hudson Valley board member.

Legoland New York is scheduled to open in spring 2020.
