New York State is stepping up its efforts to combat drunk and drugged driving.

Local law enforcement joined the DMV and the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee to announce the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" initiative. The enforcement and education program hopes to stop impaired drivers from getting behind the wheel.

A big focus of the event was the recently released Have a Plan Mobile App.

"It gives you options to find a ride home, to get a taxi, to find a ride service option or to even pre-plan and pre-program a list of designated drivers," said DMV Deputy Commissioner Janet Ho.

The app is free and can be downloaded on both iPhones and Androids.
